1TB Solid State Drive released

Taiwan’s OCZ Technology has finally released its new Solid State Drive that is Colossus in name and certainly colossal in nature, being the first SSD to offer up to one terabyte of storage. Aimed primarily at the desktop user, the Colossus SSD promises extremely fast read and write speeds of 260MB/s – but it comes at a cost.

Octane SSDs come equipped with Indilinx’s NDurance technology, which OCZ said doubles the number of program/erase cycles of NAND flash memory – meaning it doubles the overall endurance of the drive from 3,000 to 5,000 program/erase cycles over its lifetime to 6,000 to 10,000.

Also available in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB versions, the Colossus boasts 1.5 million hours mean time between failures and comes with a three-year warranty and access to OCZ's technical support team.
